What decides the price
Which job it turns out to be, and which engine it is on. Coils, plugs, injectors and sensors sit near the bottom, though a Y62 V8 has eight of each where a Safari's straight-six has six. A head gasket is several times that because the labour hours are several times that; a rebuild is quoted only after the compression and leak-down figures are in front of both of us. The diagnosis happens before the quote, which is why we will not price a Patrol engine repair over the phone from a symptom.
