What decides the price
The same as any gearbox job: what the strip-down finds. Fluid, solenoids and a valve body are the manageable end; clutch packs, a torque converter and a full rebuild climb from there, and the newer the Patrol the more gears and the more parts there are inside. What we can promise before opening it is the diagnostic cost and the fact that the rebuild figure is quoted with the parts list attached rather than as one number.
Questions people ask first
What is the difference between gearbox and transmission repair?
In practice they are the same job — transmission is the whole assembly including the torque converter and the control module. We use the words interchangeably and so does everyone else in Dubai.
Can a shuddering Patrol transmission be saved?
If it is caught while the shudder only appears at light throttle, a fluid change and an adaptation reset often clears it. Once the clutch material is in the fluid it is a rebuild.
How much does a Patrol transmission rebuild cost in Dubai?
It is quoted on the generation: the Y62's 7-speed, the Y63's 9-speed and the Safari's older automatic are different jobs. A fluid and filter service is far smaller and is often the one the Patrol actually needs.
Do you flush the transmission cooler?
On every rebuild, yes. Debris left in the cooler is the fastest way to kill a freshly rebuilt box, and skipping it is why some rebuilds fail twice.
